Jules McAleese is the founder and principal designer of Little by Little, a Portland-based residential design studio known for creating homes that are thoughtful, lived in, and deeply personal.
Jules began her design journey in 2016, taking on projects for friends and family before officially launching her own studio in 2022. Her work is guided by purpose, intuition, and a belief that good design should support the rhythm of everyday life.
Raised in a family of designers, curators, and craftsmen, Jules grew up surrounded by creativity and collaboration. These early influences shaped her appreciation for craftsmanship and the lasting impact of thoughtful design.
With a background in painting and writing, she brings an artistic eye to every project, blending color, texture, and light in ways that feel natural and quietly expressive. Jules often collaborates with Pacific Northwest makers and artisans, ensuring each home reflects the region’s beauty, craft, and sense of place.
As both a designer and a mother of two, Jules approaches her work with empathy and a deep understanding of how families truly live. Within her studio, she fosters a culture of collaboration and balance, supporting fellow women and mothers in the design community.

After completing a rigorous curriculum with one of the nation’s top Interior Design programs, her subsequent six years of experience in the field has allowed her to deliver results. It’s what she knows, and its what she loves.

With over a decade of experience in the design industry, Elissa brings a refined eye for style and a talent for creating beautifully curated spaces to Little by Little. Her background includes internal executive design roles with Fortune 500 companies, where she developed a deep understanding of how thoughtful furnishings and décor shape the way people feel in a space.
At Little by Little, Elissa specializes in transforming homes through expert styling, décor selections, and customized furnishing plans. She combines her creative vision with an organized, client-centered approach—helping homeowners elevate their spaces with ease, intention, and a signature sense of comfort and beauty.

This service includes sourcing all the necessary furnishings and materials, procuring merchandise on your behalf, tracking open orders, reporting status updates to you weekly, coordinating installations and deliveries, overseeing installations/deliveries, and managing trades to execute the final design. With a 1x1 consultation, we’ll help answer questions and provide direction wherever you are within the interior design process. This includes feedback on design direction, layout and spatial planning, cabinetry, fixture and finish selection, budgeting, project planning, sub referrals and so much more.

Looking to revive, restore, or create something completely new in your home? Little by Little will set the design direction, and provide floor plan layouts, CAD renderings, demo plans, new construction plans, elevations, and electrical plans. We’ll collaborate with you to select your architectural finishes and fixtures and procure them. We’ll work closely with your architects and builder. And select appropriate furnishing and provide final styling.
